Learning in our schools is focused around a very simple and, at the same time, very powerful view on what is most important in schools. What matters is whether children and students are getting better. That’s why we distinguish between learning and the factors that affect learning.
We believe that successful schools are the ones that put learning at the heart of everything they do, always aiming to create rounded individuals that are able to forge successful careers and lives in a rapidly changing world. Our goal is to enable our schools to be the leading schools of choice in their local area.
During the past decade, 73 UK independent schools have opened or partnered at least one school abroad. In 2021 we resolved to enter into franchise agreements with potential partners, initially in Asia, and then in due course, in East and West Africa, the Middle East and further afield. The first such school successfully opened in Lahore, Pakistan, in September 2021. A second school in Islamabad opened in September 2022.
These franchised international schools will follow the same approach and formula as we have successfully established in the UK. We aim to be a truly international group, working with different cultures and communities around the world.
We are proud that our schools offer a quality British education to pupils internationally. We educate young people right through from 2 years of age to the point where they leave for university education at 18 years old. Former pupils have gone on to win places at some of the select universities in the United Kingdom, Europe, and further afield.
Our experience guarantees solid principles and academic values and a true British education which extends past the classroom. The 130 years we have spent delivering a quality education to children in the UK means that we are now able to move forward internationally, offering partnership, support and a host of other services and structures, including the franchising of the King’s House School, Moorlands Grammar School and Tots Academy brands.
Our schools aim to provide children with the key skills and knowledge they need to be prepared for the future; a future that more than ever before, will be a highly competitive and challenging one. Talent by itself is only part of the reason children achieve success. Research suggests that the three vital ingredients are talent, skill and effort. Success can, of course, be measured in a number of different ways; however, most highly successful people, whatever their goals in life, have common traits which helped them get to the top in their chosen field. While many assume that these skills are innate, many of them can actually be learned and therefore taught.
How much better it would be then if children were taught such skills and techniques to succeed in life; however, these are rarely taught in many schools. By going above and beyond the academic curriculum, we aim to teach children the vital ingredients and characteristics necessary to achieve success. In the UK a survey of former pupils, who are members of our Alumni Association, shows that 95% of them are now in top professional jobs. 80% went on to study at university. Of the 95% in top professional jobs, the top three most represented professions were: Medicine, Law, and Corporate Management
Our vision is to be a leading international schools’ group of quality and scale, with schools of choice recognised across local communities and the global education sector for amazing learning, ambition and growth. Put simply, we are about growing learning and growing schools.
Our Vision, Purpose and Principles make it clear what we are trying to achieve. Our aim is to work in harmony, as a supportive partner, helping to utilise our schools’ branding, reputation and back-up services to help our partners recruit more pupils, and grow their schools in terms of size and success.
